Furious Chapter 10 Devotional
Don’t Come Down
đ Scripture Focus:
âHe was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision. As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peterâs hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.â
(Galatians 2:12-13, NLT)
I remember Reinhard Bonnke telling the story of when a newspaper launched a vicious public attack against him. Friends urged him to respondâto fight back and clear his name. But as he prayed, the Lord spoke clearly to his heart:
âYou are My harvest worker. Donât stop the combine harvester just to catch a mouse.â
The message was clear: donât come down. Donât get distracted. Stay focused on the mission, no matter who is criticizing you. But theres more. Because the moment you step off the harvester, youâre not just wasting timeâyouâre putting yourself in danger. Thereâs a snake in that grass. The enemy would love for you to come down to his level where he has the advantage.
Proverbs 29:25 warns, âFearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.â
This is exactly what happened to Peter in Galatians 2. It was like he stepped into a bear trapâsudden, painful, immobilizing. He found himself paralyzed by fear. And his fear spread to others. Even Barnabas, Paulâs trusted partner in ministry, was pulled into the hypocrisy.
Thatâs why Paul stood and rebuked Peter publiclyânot out of pride, but out of urgency. His bold, uncompromising stand for the truth was prying open the trap and calling Peter and the others back into the light.
So when youâre facing criticism and tempted to let the fear of man dictate your actions, donât fall for it. Stay focused. Stay faithful. Let courage rise and conviction lead.
đ„ Reflection
What has fear exposed in your life? Are there places where your actions, words, or decisions donât align with the truth of the Gospel? How can you invite God into these areas to bring healing and transformation?
đ Prayer
Lord, thank You for using fear to uncover the places in my life that need Your grace. Help me not to run from these revelations but to embrace them as opportunities to grow. Align my actions with my faith, so that my life reflects the truth of the Gospel. Amen.
đŁ Call-to-Action
Take time to reflect on moments when fear has revealed inconsistencies in your life. Journal about what you learn and pray for Godâs help to realign your actions with your beliefs. If you see these struggles in others, approach them with grace, encouraging them toward truth and restoration.
